101 Things To Do in (almost) Any City

Here's a list of 101 family friendly activities you can do in (most cities) so I hope you find the following list inspirational when your bored one Saturday.



1. Go bowling (or Cosmic Bowling)

2. Play mini-putt

3. go to a museum (there usually atleast a few in each city)

4. Go to your neighbourhood park and play on the playground equipment, I believe you never outgrow swings.

5. go walking in city's trails

6. go for a bike ride

7. go to the movies

8. go for icecream/ frozen yogurt/ gelato

9. go to the drive-in

10. watch a local sports event, football, baseball, basketball, hockey, roller derby ...

11. go indoor ice skating at a public rink or find one of the many outdoor rinks in your area

12. go to music concerts - for a listing of upcoming events check out the websites for your local stadiums and larger venues

13. go to one of the many annual festivals: some general festivals include Winter Carnivals, music festivals and art or entertainment festivals

14. go for a picnic

15. go swimming in an indoor (or outdoor) pool

16. bring along a pail and shovel for the kids and a lot of sunscreen and go to the local beach

17. go shopping at all the little shops and boutiques that line your cities main street (and you never get to them because they are not located in the convenient mall)

18. go rollerblading on paved paths or at the roller rink

19. take a cooking class - at local grocery store or college

20. take a scrapbooking or card making class - often offered at most craft stores like Michaels

21. watch the Canada Day or Independance Day fireworks, some cities have fireworks weekly in the summer
 
22. go to local provincial parks

23. go to an indoor rock climbing facility

24. go paint balling

25. go to a fancy cafe and sit on the patio as you enjoy a (probably) overpriced but delicious coffee

26. go to the library - I love going to the library and checking out all the books I'm too cheap frugal to buy, they also have a ton of fairly new and older dvds to borrow as well as childrens activities like toy story hour

27. race some go carts

28. go to a farmers market and try out the local produce

29. go to the zoo

30. visit local landmarks


31. play Frisbee

32. Go Golfing - play 9 or 18 holes and there are usually a lot of inexpensive courses for beginners

37. go cross country skiing

39. go to comedy club/ comedy night

40. go to Christmas bazaars

54. have your tea leaves or palms read - always a source of entertainment even if you don't take it to heart

55. go camping - even if its just in your back yard

56. have a campfire (get a fire permit first) and roast marshmallows

61. go to the driving range

62. go on a hay/sleigh ride (usually offered at you petting zoo or horse stable)

78. get a free makeover at the make-up counter at large department stores

79. join a co-ed sports team

84. Volunteer for a day for charities like Habitat for Humanity or your local soup kitchen.

99. get pampered – get a pedicure, or hair cut – if you’re brave you can usually get a hair cut at a drastically reduced cost at your local beauty school

100. go wine tasting

101. host a Tupperware, make-up or similar party, there is often no obligation to buy and the host gets a free gift
