101 Summer Activities

I absolutely love summer maybe because in Canada it just seems so short, for instance it snowed in mid May again so when the weather finally warms up I want to make the most out of it so here's my summer bucket list:


1. make your own summer bucketlist - whether you make a checklist, print off an existing one, write ideas on popsicles sticks in a jar, or print out some cards from Positively Splendid

2. go for icecream, frozen yogurt or gelato

3. go to the beach - go swimming, look for seashells and build a sandcastle

4. lay out blankets in the backyard and go stargazing

5. put on your bathing suits and have a water balloon or water gun fight

6. make popsicles or watermelon freezer pops from Sweet Tooth Love



7. turn on the sprinkler and jump through it or make a slip and slide

8. throw pillows and blankets in the back of the pick up or van and go to the drive in

9. pack a picnic lunch and go to the local park or a nice spot by the water front

10. go to city's outdoor pool or splash pad

11. I think this salt dough starfish garland from Desperate Craft Wives would be the perfect decoration for a summer or poolside party


12.  put on your bathing suit and wash the car or have a trike car wash: attach the hose to a pvc pipe and attach some sponges with string - idea from dotcomsformoms

13. invite your friends over to have a barbeque with hotdogs, hamburgers and corn on the cob.

14. Spruce up a pair of old, or just plaing boring flip flops with a tutorial from Trinkets in Bloom

15. grab some mason jars with holes in the lid and catch fireflies - or get a tutorial to make a glow in the dark firefly jar from Come Together Kids

16. make a scrapbook of all your summer adventures - grab this free download from JustJamiee.com


17. play outdoor mini putt

18. go to an amusement park or the carnival

19. go for a bike ride through the neighbourhood or on the boardwalk or bike trails

20. make a summer wreath - get the instructions at Miss Kopy Kat

21. play some washer toss in the backyard - ge the instructions on how to build a washer toss game and the rules at wikihow

22. get 10 summer salad recipes from the Patriotic Pam

23. Make some Crab Cakes - from Clean & Scentsible

24. have a garage sale and sell all those unwanted items cluttering your house, or visit some garage sales to find some treasures or repurpose some finds. Get some free printable yard sale signs from  Belly Feathers Party Blog

25. With sandal weather finally here you have to paint your toenails a bright colour. I seen colour changing nailpolish from Del Sol which I think would be a super fun idea.

26. make recipes with fresh berries like strawberry shortcake or blueberry crisp - I love this apple crisp recipe and I am sure the crisp would taste good on any kind of berry or fresh peaches

27. Put up a big sheet in the backyard and get a projector for an outdoor movie night. Get 25 outdoor movie night ideas from Babble  including a popcorn bar from Hostess with the Mostess



28. play outdoor games like bocci ball, croquet or horseshoes

29. make some unbreakable bubbles

30. get the recipe for this easy watermelon fudge over at somethingswanky.com


31. save some money and plan a staycation - and visit all those touristy attractions in your hometown which actually sound fun. check find your city for ideas in your hometown

32. make a cute summer sign out of wooden blocks - get the tutorial over at FaveCrafts

33. Have a fancy bbq party - get all the details at Frilly Milly Events

34.  take advantage of the good weather and make an outdoor living space - we never use to go outside because we had no privacy but we built a small fence around our deck, bought an outdoor living room set and patio table and now when the weather is nice we practically live out there.

35. nothing beats reading a good book while lying in the sun, some of my recent favourites are the Clockwork Princess and Safe Haven

36. make some refreshing cocktails and mocktails this summer - get recipes from Pizzazzerie

37. make an ombre shirt - get the directions from I Spy DIY

38. Make some summer bunting, cut out triangles of summer inspired fabric or glue letters on burlap. You can purchase the one below from CMHandmade on Etsy

39. check local listings for free concerts or movies in the park

40. put up twinkle lights and paper lanterns

43. drive to the lake and go canoeing, paddleboating or kayaking - a lot of places allow you to rent one for a day as well.

51. rent a boat (or borrow your friends) and go water skiing or tubing

54. check out all the local summer art, music and food festivals

55.  take a fitness class in the park - there are often free (or atleast reasonable) fitness classes held in the park like Zumba classes.

56. Decorate your mantel for summer. I love this artwork by Aimee Weaver at My Pink Life


57. Play water squirt gun games - line up a row of golf tees on a piece of wood or foam board and top each one with a ping pong ball and have kids and adults try to knock them all down in one turn. idea from Martha

58. get the tutorial to make faux coral from house revivals - to update your mantel or center piece

59. make sugar cookies - or you can buy the ones pictured from Elenis

60. go on a camping trip - pack up your tent and camping supplies and rent a campsite at a nearby site

101. take family game night outdoors - and play a game of soccer, frisbee, tag, or the boardgame you were going to play anyway.

    1. I am currently using blogger. Check out my article Blogger vs. WordPress I have very limited coding knowledge but there are a lot of great tutorials and plugin out there.
